BAJALTA, Feb 22: Pounthal Fighters today defeated Kathar- B Super Kings and Sidhra Leopards won the match against Jaishree Knight Riders in the Maruti Suzuki Nagrota Premier League Tournament, an initiative of MLA Devender Singh Rana.
Winning the toss at the Bajalta play field Kathar B Super Kings decided to bat first and managed to score 104 runs losing all wickets in 14 overs.
Pounthal Fighters chased the target in 13 overs after losing 9 wickets. Rakesh was given man of the match award for his all-round performance. He took 2 wickets and made valuable 12 runs.
The second match was played between Sidhra leopards and Jaishree Knight Riders.
Sidhra Leopards won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 154 runs after losing four wickets in stipulated 14 overs.
Jaishree Knight Riders failed to chase the target and were bowled out for 97 runs. Asif was declared as man of the match for his 32 runs and 4 wickets.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-Ur-Rehman and Sadiq Hussain Malik from the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Senior Superintendent of Police Crime, Jammu, Mubassir Latiffi lauded the commitment of young cricketers towards the gentleman’s game.
He said the youngsters are enormously talented and the day is not far away to see them bringing laurels for the State.
He urged upon the budding players to concentrate on the game and strive for excellence.
Besides hundreds of cricket lovers from Nagrota and Jammu, Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, former Ranji Trophy Player besides local Sarpanches also witnessed the match.
