UDHAMPUR, Mar 24: Dogri language is the basis of our intangible cultural heritage and we should never let anything attenuate it. However modern we may become, it is very important to remain connected with our rich past so that our values and traditions remain preserved and are passed on from one generation to another. It is the duty of the young to preserve the living heritage, our old generation, and learn from them the essence of our culture and heritage so that these traditions are passed on to posterity.”
These views were expressed by historians and other eminent scholars of art and culture of the state who participated in the seminar on Culture and Heritage of Jammu, during one-day Heritage Fest organized by Government Degree College Jindrah. In addition to the seminar the Fest included an impressive exhibition of the rare heritage artifacts and antiques in addition to folk performances to illustrate the importance preserving tangible/intangible heritage.
Johny William, former Inspector General of Police was the chief guest on this occasion.
