Calligraphy competition held

JAMMU, Aug 4: Humanity Public School conducted calligraphy competition in order to improve presentation skills and to inculcate habit of good handwriting among the students.
The aim of the competition was to encourage the students to write neatly and present the content in proper manner.
All the students from class Ist to Xth participated with full enthusiasm and showed excellent creativity through their writing skills.
This event was held in view of the changing ways of communication due to growing interest in computers. Handwriting skills have been forgotten and there is ‘handwriting crisis’ these days. So to overcome these problems this competition is regularly done in the HPS.
The winners of the competitions with best handwritings were rewarded with certificates in a short but impressive function held in the morning assembly.
In junior category (1st to 5th), first prize was won by Shagun of class 4th-B, while second prize was shared by Mahi of class 1st-B & Priyanka Choudhary of class 3rd-A. The third prize was clinched by Amisha of class 5th-B.
In Senior category (6th to 10th), first prize was bagged by Tamana Dogra of class 9th-A, while second prize was won by Lakshita Mehra of class 10th and third position was secured by Ankita Bhagat of class 6th-A and Arti Devi of class 7th.
On the occasion, Vice Principal of the institution Anku Charak said that the adolescents of today should be encouraged to write properly and for this, such type competitions turn out to be very meaningful for the students. Since calligraphy not only improves writing skills but also teaches students about their unique structure and the beauty of the language, she added.
