Jhangar day is celebrated every year in the first week of July by the Army at Naoshera to commemorate the sacrifice of Brigadier Mohd Usman, who sacrificed his life while recapturing Jhangar to save Naoshera sector during 1947-48 Indo-Pak war.
The ‘Jhangar idol’ is a popular competition among the youth of Naoshera, wherein huge participation is witnessed every year. This year too, the eagerness was evident where in 96 participants underwent the audition.
The programme was a great hit and provided an ideal platform in bridging the gap between the youth of J&K and Indian Army.
